Curry: I am Serious About Ushering a New Day

Renardo Curry
Progressive Liberal Party
North Abaco
Rally Remarks – Cooper’s Town
October 11, 2012

North Abaco! How you feeling tonight!?
Are you ready for a new day?
The time is almost here to make your choice.
In just a few days you will decide just what kind of representation you want for the next five years.
For more than a year now, you have welcomed me as I have asked you for that responsibility.
You know me, North Abaco, and I know you!
We’ve been together for years. I have had the honor of serving in local government, and as a leader in my church and in my community.
I know what makes North Abaco special, and I know the challenges we face.
I know you deserve honest representation, and a leader for our young people.
I ask for that responsibility with complete humility, but also with a sense of urgency – there’s so much work to do!
I am serious about job creation and empowerment, and serious about new opportunities in North Abaco.
I want to thank the leadership of our Party and the leadership of our Government for the support they have shown – support for me, and support for North Abaco.
I am proud to be a candidate for the Progressive Liberal Party – because I know honest opinions and innovative thinking are welcome. I know that new generation leaders have room to make a difference. I know that this party believes in Bahamians and puts Bahamians first.
That’s why our commitment to education is central – if we believe in our children and in their future, we need new preschools here in North Abaco. And that commitment carries through right up to new training for high school students, new opportunities for high school graduates, new scholarships, and a GED programme for those who didn’t finish high school and want a second chance.
We also realize the urgency of creating long-term jobs and opportunities for you, North Abaco. Temporary jobs are one thing during hard times, but what we really need is a healthy, strong economy with sustainable jobs – and we need to make sure all of us have the skills we need to compete for and keep those jobs.

The Prime Minister has a stellar record of job creation and he’s already working day and night to create new jobs in The Bahamas. This government is looking at both old and new ways to create jobs – big tourism projects and smaller, from-the-ground-up efforts, too.
Through agricultural and mari-cultural endeavors, through tourism promotion and investments, by jump starting the construction sector, new support for small businesses, better protection for our fishing waters – it’s all part of a new day, North Abaco!
Gone are the days when the Government will simply give our farmers or entrepreneurs a piece of land and walk off, hoping it all works out. With Renardo Curry, you will have a representative who will make sure you get the support you need to make sure your hard work brings success. I’m talking about a renewed relationship with the Bahamas Development Bank and other loan opportunities, as well as cutting-edge training and marketing support to ensure that you remain competitive!
I’ve been proud to share my plan with you, North Abaco – I’ve been sharing it with you as I campaign, and there’s more information on northabaco.com, too – so you know what my priorities are…
North Abaco, I am serious about ushering a new day of hope and partnership, opportunity and support for you, throughout our constituency.
Come Monday, I hope that you will give me the opportunity to serve and represent you.
God Bless You, North Abaco, and May God Bless The Bahamas. GOOD NIGHT!
