About Me: Leo Ryan Pinder was born in Nassau at the Rassin Hospital to Marvin and Nancy Pinder. He is married to Melissa Calvin Pinder and is the father of two children, Olivia Rose and Leo Austin Pinder
Political Highlights: One of the biggest highlights of Mr. Pinder’s young political career was when he won the Bye-Election in the Elizabeth Constituency in 2010 and became the Member of Parliament for the area. Subsequently, he was appointed to serve as a member of the Committee of Public Accounts of the House of Assembly of The Bahamas. He also serves as the Co-Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party’s Committee on Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. At the 2009 National Convention, Mr. Pinder was elected to serve as a Vice-Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party.
Education: Mr. Pinder successfully completed the six month programme for legal studies at the Eugene Dupuch Law School, Nassau Bahamas. He went on to complete his LL.M, Masters of Law in International Taxation, JD Juris Doctor, Masters of Business Adminstration and a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Civics/Social: Mr. Pinder is involved in many civic and social organizations. He currently is the Chairman of the Board of The Bahamas Breast Cancer Initiative Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Hands for Hunger Foundation of Nassau, Bahamas. He was called to the Florida and Bahamas Bar. He was certified by the Florida Bar Association as an expert in Tax Law.
Professional/Career: Currently Mr. Pinder serves as an International Tax and Commercial Consultant for OL Private Corporate Council where he:
- Advises International Corporations on merger and acquisition transactions
- Advises on International commercial tax structures
- Preparation of international tax policy
He also serves as a Tax Consultant at Becker & Poliakoff, P.A. He is also the managing shareholder for the Nassau, Bahamas office, where he is responsible for:
- Establishing the Firm’s office in Nassau, Bahamas.
- Offshore tax planning for United States clients
- Representation of United States clients doing business in the Bahamas
- Representation of Bahamian companies and citizens with respect to United States legal matters
Mr. Pinder prior to his current positions served as an Associate at Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, in Miami, Florida. He also worked at Zack Kosnitzky, P.A, in Miami Florida. He also completed a clinical internship at the Office of Dispute Resolutions at the National Association of Securities Dealers. He also served as a law clerk at Kalis & Kleiman, P.A., in Davie, Florida.
