About Me: Vergeneas Alfred Gray was born in Hardhill Acklins on August 5, 1951 to Charles W. Gray and Vera Darling (nee Collie). V. Alfred Gray is married to the former Bessley E. Williamson and is the father of five children. A Baptist by denomination, Mr. Gray enjoys flying, reading and fishing as hobbies.
Political Highlights: Mr. Gray was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Local Government (2002 – 2007). He was elected to the House of Assembly from 1987 to 1992 as the Member of Parliament for Carmichael. In 2002, he was again elected to the House of Assembly as the Member of Parliament for MICAL.
Education: He received his early education at Hard Hill Public Schools and St. Annes’s High School. He completed his tertiary education at the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He was called to the Bahamas Bar in 1985.
Civics/Social: Mr. Gray enjoys flying as he is a licensed and trained pilot. He also enjoys reading and fishing in his spare time. He is a member of the West Rotary Club of Nassau and Toastmasters 1969. Mr. Gray also serves as a Deacon at New Destiny Baptist Cathedral.
Professional/Career: Mr. Gray is currently the Senior Attorney at his law firm V.Alfred Gray & Co. Prior to this he was a Family Island school teacher and also a Family Island Commissioner, a position which he served in various Family Islands.
